NAGAON (HAIBORGAON), July 16: A gang of dacoits on Saturday night challenged the initiatives of Superintendent of Police, Nagaon, Devaraj Upadhyai against crime and criminals, and killed one teacher- cum-businessman with sharp weapons at no. 1 Garumara village near Sivastan under Samaguri police station and looted cash around Rs 7 lakh and gold ornaments from the family.
The attack of the gang of dacoits was so brutal that the businessman’s wife also sustained severe injuries in various parts of her body. According the sources of police as well as the local people of the area, the gang of the dacoits on Saturday night at around 2 am broke the main door of Allal Uddin’s house and entered the house. The gang first attacked Allal Uddin and his wife Sabita Begum with sharp weapons. As a consequence of that sudden attack, both husband and wife sustained severe injuries and following this, the gang looted Rs 7 lakh cash and gold ornaments from the house and fled away.
Later, some neighbors rushed to the spot and rescued the couple in a critical condition. The local police rushed to the spot and sent the couple to Samaguri Primary Health Centre where the doctor on duty declared Allal Uddin dead and referred his injured wife Sabita Begum to GMCH for further treatment. She was struggling for life in GMCH till filing of this report.
Interestingly, Nagaon Police led by Superintendent of Police Devaraj Upadhyai, have repeatedly failed to check crimes like robbery and theft in the district for the last couple of months.
