GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), Aug 3: The activists of Oikya Sena Asom, Golaghat district committee on Thursday staged an hour NH-39 blockade at Purabangla of Morangi mouza over the pathetic condition of Bokial-Purabangla road, illegal carrying of sand and stone from Kaliani river and various burning issues of the region. The president and secretary of the organization, Prasanta Bora and Toufik Ahmed, said that the road Bokial to Purabangla was in a very pathetic condition. Passengers, students and patients have to travel to Golaghat town with great risk as the condition of the PWD road at many places is pitiable. The road is full of potholes. This has caused serious problems for vehicles drivers and pedestrians. Due to pathetic condition of the road, many minor road accidents have taken place. They also demanded to stop river mining in Kaliani river. They alleged that the beat officer of Purabangla was involved in illegal transportation of sand and gravel from the river. They demanded the authority concerned to immediately take action against the beat officer. Besides, Oikya Sena Asom demanded the Assam Government to provide pure drinking water, toilets and electrification in rural areas. They threatened to launch massive agitation unless their demands were fulfilled soon.
