SHILLONG, Aug 3: The Promote Poet Genesis Research (PPGR), a group comprising local artistes, on Thursday urged the people of Meghalaya to exercise caution while dealing with companies from outside the State who try to attract youth to take part in different competitions.
Addressing reporters here, PPGR president Spastarlin Nongrem said, “People in the State should be careful before participating in any competition or audition organized by companies coming from outside. Recently, two members from our group came in 1st and 2nd during the State level auditions in Shillong for Bharat Ki Khoj Season II, but later both of them were dropped from the competition without being provided any reason.”
He informed the media that the organizers had earlier contacted them through their agents in Meghalaya that they should depart for Mumbai on 17th June. “However, suddenly out of the blue, the duo that topped the auditions were informed that they had been dropped from the competition,” he added.
Stating that Bharat Ki Khoj Season II auditions began on 11th January in West Khasi Hills, he said, “We were supposed to participate in the grand finale, which was earlier supposed to be held on June 24-25 in Mumbai, but the dates were cancelled and till today we don’t have knowledge of the new dates for the competition.”
Nongrem said that now the person who got the third position has been included in the competition.
